Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned an attack by Israeli settlers on the Palestinian villages of Qusra and Jalud in the northern occupied West Bank over the weekend, after masked settlers threw stones at residents and a Palestinian woman and an NBC News crew were attacked while conducting an interview.
What Happened
Dozens of settlers descended on Qusra on Saturday, throwing stones at residents and barricading themselves inside a house with Palestinians still inside, following nearly three weeks of rising tension in the area. Separately, three members of an NBC News team were attacked while interviewing a Palestinian woman, Aida Ahmed Abdullah, and her family in the nearby town of Jalud.
Netanyahu’s Response
“I strongly condemn the criminal acts of violence committed in the villages of Qusra and Jalud by a handful of rioters who are violating the law, causing a grave injustice to the law-abiding Jewish community, interfering with the IDF in carrying out its missions, and harming Israel’s standing in the world,” Netanyahu said, calling on security forces “to apprehend the perpetrators and to bring them to justice” and adding that Israel “will not tolerate vigilantism of any kind by anyone.”
