Poison frontman Bret Michaels has canceled all of his remaining 2026 solo tour dates on doctors’ orders, following two recent surgeries and a comeback performance in Sugar Hill, Georgia that his medical team said made clear he needed an extended recovery period. Michaels, a Type 1 diabetic, recently had a kidney stone removed along with a ureteral stent placed.

His doctors said in a statement that Michaels “wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead,” specifically citing how summer heat and humidity can affect his blood sugar levels. The cancellations include his planned appearance at the Mountain Music Festival along with other private events and shows scheduled through the rest of the year.

Why This Recovery Period Matters More Than a Typical Cancellation

Managing Type 1 diabetes on tour already requires closely tracking blood sugar around irregular sleep, travel, and performance schedules, and recovering from two recent surgeries adds a layer of risk that heat and physical exertion on stage can complicate directly. His medical team’s specific concern about summer conditions affecting blood sugar control is a more concrete health risk than general touring fatigue, which is part of why doctors pulled him off the road entirely rather than recommending a lighter schedule.

What’s Next

No timeline has been given for when Michaels might resume touring, and the cancellations affect the remainder of his 2026 schedule specifically rather than any future plans. Fans with tickets to the affected dates should expect refund or rescheduling information through the individual venues where shows were booked.
