Oro, a Dubai-based startup that lets users execute DeFi transactions using plain-language instructions instead of navigating crypto interfaces directly, has raised a $3 million strategic round co-led by MH Ventures and Mapleblock Capital. The round also included M2M Capital, Archer Capital, X21 Digital, Disrupt.com, and ZIG Labs, bringing Oro’s total funding to $4 million.

The platform describes itself as “agentic finance”: a user types or speaks an instruction in plain language, and Oro’s system converts it into the multi-step transactions needed to execute it on decentralized finance protocols, without Oro ever taking custody of the user’s funds. Oro says it has onboarded more than 350,000 active users across more than 80 languages.

Why the Non-Custodial Detail Matters

A lot of crypto platforms that simplify the user experience do so by taking custody of funds themselves, meaning the platform, not the user, holds the actual assets and controls the private keys, a structure that’s been at the center of major crypto collapses when a custodial platform mismanages or loses user funds. Oro’s pitch is specifically that it can abstract away the technical complexity of DeFi transactions while leaving users in full control of their own funds throughout, avoiding that custodial risk entirely.

What This Signals About Where AI and Crypto Are Heading

Keira Nesdale, a portfolio manager at co-lead investor MH Ventures, said Oro’s ability to “abstract away backend friction” while staying non-custodial positions it to lead what she called the broader shift toward agentic finance. A $3 million round is modest by crypto funding standards, but the underlying bet, that natural-language AI interfaces will become the standard way people interact with decentralized finance rather than raw wallets and smart contract interfaces, is a bigger claim than the check size suggests.
