A London inquest has concluded that British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by a cosmetic penis-enlargement procedure he underwent in Thailand earlier this year. Ubiribo, 43, was known online for documenting a luxury lifestyle to roughly 185,000 Instagram followers, and owned homes in Los Angeles and London.
Coroner Jean Harkin, sitting at Inner West London Coroners’ Court, ruled that the treatment directly caused the embolism that killed him, according to evidence presented at the hearing. A postmortem examination found cellular material in his lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used in the injection, tying the medical procedure directly to his death.
What happened in Thailand
Ubiribo was on vacation in Thailand with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, in March when he had about 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine injected into his penis at a clinic, a procedure marketed as a cosmetic enlargement treatment. The couple then went for a massage, where Ubiribo began complaining of chest pain and collapsed twice.
Medics responded and performed CPR for more than 100 minutes in an effort to revive him, but he died in the early hours of March 6, 2026.
The inquest’s findings
Inquests are opened automatically in the United Kingdom when a British citizen dies abroad under unclear or medical circumstances, and this one examined how a routine-seeming cosmetic procedure led to a fatal blood clot reaching Ubiribo’s lungs. The postmortem evidence presented at Inner West London Coroners’ Court showed the injected material had migrated into his lung tissue, which the coroner cited in attributing the death to the procedure rather than to any preexisting condition.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are widely used in cosmetic medicine and are generally considered low-risk when injected correctly into soft tissue, but doctors have long warned that any filler injection carries a risk of vascular occlusion if the substance enters a blood vessel rather than staying in the intended tissue. A pulmonary embolism, in which a blockage reaches the lungs, is a rare but recognized complication of such injections.
Details about the specific clinic or practitioner involved in Thailand have not been publicly released, and it remains unclear whether Thai authorities have opened any separate review of the procedure itself.
