A shooting broke out on the sidelines of an annual techno rave in Aarau, Switzerland, early Sunday, killing a 22-year-old woman and wounding five other people, Swiss police said.
What Happened
Shots rang out before 3 a.m. near the Aarauer Rave, an annual party that drew roughly 3,500 attendees this year. Police said the woman who died was killed at the scene, while four men and one woman between 24 and 27 years old were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Some attendees initially mistook the gunfire for fireworks until someone shouted for people to get down.
The Search for Suspects
The shooting prompted a large-scale police response in the northern Swiss canton of Aargau. As of Sunday, authorities had not identified the shooter or shooters, and the motive and exact circumstances of the attack remained unknown.
