A woman fatally stabbed one bystander and wounded another in Times Square in an apparently random daytime attack Monday before she was shot and killed by NYPD officers.
What Happened
Police identified the attacker as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros. Officers say she pulled two knives from a shopping bag and stabbed a 68-year-old man who had just exited the subway and was waiting to cross the street with his wife, then stabbed a 32-year-old woman seconds later. Both stabbings happened within about 20 seconds.
The Outcome
The 32-year-old woman died at a hospital; the 68-year-old man is in stable condition. Officers spent several minutes trying to get Cisneros to drop the knives, using a Taser before ultimately shooting her.
