The NBA Finals 2024 is turning out to be a roller coaster ride. The Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks are battling it out on the court, and it’s nothing short of spectacular.

Celtics Take the Lead
The Celtics have shown their dominance in the first game, taking down the Mavericks with a score of 107-89. The Celtics’ stars all showed up in Game 1. Kristaps Porzingis, back from a calf injury, dropped 20 points (including 18 in the first half). Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combined for 38 points. The Celtics got it done from long range, hitting 16 3-pointers.
Mavericks Struggle
On the other hand, the Mavericks struggled from deep, making only 7 of their 27 attempts. Luka Doncic added 30 points and 10 rebounds to lead Dallas but got very little help. Kyrie Irving struggled throughout, finishing 6-for-19 shooting for 12 points.

Injury Concerns
However, the series has taken an unexpected turn with the injury of Kristaps Porzingis. The Celtics provided an injury update on Porzingis, and it doesn’t sound very promising for the Boston big man going forward in the NBA Finals. Porzingis is considered day-to-day with what head coach Joe Mazzulla referred to as a rare and serious tendon injury. This could represent an opportunity for Dallas to capitalize on in a number of respects.
Looking Forward
With the series swinging to Dallas, the Mavericks will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming games. The Celtics are halfway to Banner 18, but the series is far from over. The next few games will be crucial in determining the outcome of this series.
