An administration official told reporters Trump intends to replace Leavitt but isn’t in a hurry to do so, and the White House may not name a permanent successor until after the November midterm elections. That timeline leaves the daily briefing role in an unusual state of limbo for a position that’s typically filled quickly given how central it is to the administration’s day-to-day media strategy.
