A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy, identified as Isaiah Williams, was arrested after allegedly punching his fiancee several times in the face and attempting to strangle her early Monday morning following an argument. Police say the altercation began after she was dropped off at their home by a male friend.
According to authorities, Williams’ fiancee pulled out a gun to defend herself during the attack, and Williams grabbed the weapon from her and hid it. He’s facing multiple charges, including simple battery, domestic battery by strangulation, robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm, and tampering with or altering evidence.
A Recurring Problem Inside the Department
This is at least the third domestic violence arrest involving a Broward Sheriff’s Office employee in 2026 alone: a sergeant was arrested in January for allegedly attacking his wife of 12 years, and that same sergeant was arrested again in April in what colleagues described as a second domestic violence incident in four months, that time also accused of stealing his partner’s vehicle. A separate deputy was arrested in July, his fourth domestic violence-related arrest in six months, accused of beating a woman with a belt severely enough to cause hearing loss.
Why the Firearm Detail Matters
Williams taking the gun from his fiancee’s hand and hiding it, rather than the confrontation ending once she armed herself, is the detail that elevated the charges beyond a standard domestic battery case. Robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm is a serious felony charge, and it reflects that the altercation didn’t end when she attempted to defend herself, it escalated further.
