Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, won gold in her return to competition at the 2023 US Classic on Saturday night. Biles, who had withdrawn from several events at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics due to mental health concerns, competed in all four events at the US Classic and finished first in vault, floor, and balance beam. She also placed second on uneven bars.
Biles’s performance was a triumphant return to form for the 24-year-old gymnast. She was in command throughout the competition, and her scores were some of the highest of her career. Her win in the vault event was particularly impressive, as she landed her signature Yurchenko double pike with ease.
Biles’s return to competition is a major boost for the US gymnastics team ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. She is still the best gymnast in the world, and her presence on the team will give the US a major advantage.
