1. An ICE agent shot a food delivery driver in Austin
Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, 28, was shot in the torso just before 1 p.m. Sunday at U.S. 183 and Anderson Square while working as a DoorDash driver. He survived and is in federal custody pending removal. Austin’s police chief said there may have been a foot chase but called that preliminary. Federal authorities have not explained what led to the shooting. Full story
2. A Putin ally paid for Don Jr.’s wedding parties
Umar Kremlev, head of the International Boxing Association, covered hundreds of thousands in Bahamas wedding costs in May, including a private island rental. Trump called it “totally allowed,” then said his son is repaying the money, then softened that to “I understand that Don’s paying them back.” House Oversight has asked for records. Full story
3. Salazar criticized Trump, then moved the blame
The Miami Republican’s ad told Trump his enforcement had gone too far and Latino voters felt betrayed. Four days later she said the problem is his advisers, who are “compromising his legacy.” Her district is heavily Hispanic and Trump won it by 15 points. Full story
4. Two starting quarterbacks went down in Week 2
Jayden Daniels dislocated the same left elbow that cost him time last season; Dan Quinn says there is no fracture. Caleb Williams was carted off with a hamstring.
