A Florida man was convicted this week of murdering three out-of-state tourists outside a Kissimmee vacation rental in January, and jurors are now weighing whether he was legally sane at the time of the killings.

On January 17, 2026, three men in Kissimmee for the Mecum Auctions car show, James Puchan, 68, and Douglas Kraft, 68, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert Kraft, 70, of Howell, Michigan, were standing outside their Airbnb rental in the Indian Point subdivision waiting for a replacement rental car after theirs broke down. A neighbor, 29-year-old Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, approached and shot all three men one by one without any prior confrontation, according to authorities. Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon described the attack as random, unprovoked, and “cold-blooded.”
A History With the Insanity Defense
Court records show Bojeh had been arrested in a 2021 shooting incident but was found not guilty by reason of insanity at the time, and was ordered into mental health treatment as a condition of his release in 2022. His competency to stand trial in the Kissimmee case was in question for months, with a judge ordering multiple psychiatric evaluations before the case was cleared to proceed.
