Charges Dropped Against Ex

Prosecutors have dropped charges against former Olympian David Hearn, who had been accused of damaging a reflecting pool. The decision ends a case that had drawn attention because of Hearn’s athletic background and the unusual nature of the alleged vandalism.

The case was withdrawn after prosecutors acknowledged problems related to the pool’s construction. Other reports characterized the project as rushed or flawed, raising questions about whether the reported damage resulted from vandalism or from underlying construction issues.

Hearn will not face prosecution in connection with the allegations. The decision reflects the prosecutors’ assessment that the case could not proceed after the concerns about the reflecting pool’s condition and construction came to light.
