Brittany Fortinberry, a former Martinsville, Indiana teacher facing 47 felony charges in a child sex-abuse case, finalized her divorce this week, more than a year after her husband filed to end the marriage.
The Charges She Faces
Fortinberry, 33, is accused of providing alcohol and psychedelic mushrooms to underage boys before engaging in sexual activity with them, with prosecutors alleging some encounters involved masks from the Scream film franchise. She resigned from the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville on August 23, 2024, and remains in custody awaiting trial.
The Divorce
Her husband, Nicholas Fortinberry, filed for divorce in February 2025, shortly after the initial charges were announced. Under the finalized settlement, Brittany Fortinberry retains her clothes, shoes, and makeup, while Nicholas keeps a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and a Toyota 4Runner and retains sole legal custody of the couple’s child.
What Happens Next
Fortinberry still faces trial on the underlying 47 felony counts, including level-one child molestation and sexual misconduct with minors. No trial date has been publicly confirmed.
