A 25-year-old woman from Alabama is missing after she pulled over to help a toddler she saw walking alone on the side of an interstate.
Carleethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell called 911 on Thursday night to report the child. She told the dispatcher that she had stopped to check on the child and that she was on the phone with a family member when she lost contact.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Russell’s car and some of her belongings, but no sign of her or the child.
The Hoover Police Department is investigating Russell’s disappearance as a missing persons case. They have not received any reports of a missing toddler in the area.
Russell’s family is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.
Russell is described as a black woman with black hair in tight braids. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and white Nike shoes.
