Laura Ann Carleton, a 66-year-old store owner known as “Lauri,” tragically lost her life in a fatal shooting that occurred in Cedar Glen, California. The incident was sparked by a dispute over a Pride flag that Carleton displayed outside her Mag Pi clothing store. The unidentified suspect made derogatory comments about the flag before shooting her, later fleeing the scene.
Although not a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Carleton was known for supporting the community, creating a safe space for everyone, and being a strong advocate for freedom from hate and discrimination.
The suspect was subsequently located by deputies, armed with a handgun. A confrontation ensued, resulting in the suspect’s death.

Carleton leaves behind her husband and nine children, and the investigation continues.
