Jennifer Lawrence says some of her male co-stars have punished her for turning down their advances on set, an admission she made while explaining why she skipped an intimacy coordinator for nude scenes with Robert Pattinson in her new film “Die My Love.”

Lawrence, 35, made the comments on the Las Culturistas podcast, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. “A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to f*** them,” she said. “And then the punishment starts.”

Why she felt safe skipping an intimacy coordinator

Lawrence said she felt comfortable filming the nude scenes with Pattinson without an intimacy coordinator present because of who he is off camera. She described him as “not pervy” and noted he’s in a long-term relationship with Suki Waterhouse, which she said made the collaboration feel safe rather than fraught, according to Yahoo News.

She did not name any actor she says punished her for declining intimacy, and framed the remarks as describing a pattern she has encountered across her career rather than a specific incident with one person, according to AsiaOne.

The bigger point about intimacy coordinators

Intimacy coordinators have become standard on productions with nudity or simulated sex scenes since the #MeToo movement pushed studios to formalize on-set protections. Lawrence’s comments suggest the role isn’t just about choreography, it’s meant to give actors leverage against exactly the kind of pressure she describes, where turning someone down carries a professional cost.

“Die My Love,” co-starring Lawrence and Pattinson, is part of her current press run, and the podcast appearance was tied to that promotion. Lawrence has been increasingly candid in interviews over the past year about the mechanics of filming sensitive scenes and the power dynamics that come with them.
