A 19-year-old Miami-Dade waitress is facing an extortion charge after investigators say she demanded $20,000 from a man she had been dating, then made good on a threat to send his intimate photos to his girlfriend when he refused to pay.
Nathalie Rodriguez Gonzalez was arrested Friday and charged with threats/extortion, according to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office cited by Local 10 News. Deputies say Rodriguez Gonzalez met the man while working as a waitress, and the two went on several dates before she learned he had a girlfriend the entire time they were together.
After the discovery, deputies say Rodriguez Gonzalez sent the man threatening text messages demanding $20,000. When he refused to pay, she allegedly sent one of his intimate photos to his business partner and asked that business partner for the girlfriend’s phone number so she could send the photo directly, according to Law&Crime.
Investigators say she went on to send the photo directly to the girlfriend and posted a censored version, along with other images, to her TikTok account.
Full confession, held on bond
Rodriguez Gonzalez was arrested at her home and brought in for questioning, where she gave a full confession, according to the arrest report. She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was being held there as of Monday on a $7,500 bond.
Florida law treats the nonconsensual distribution of intimate images as a criminal offense on its own, separate from extortion, though the arrest report in this case centers on the threats and demand for money rather than a standalone revenge-porn charge.
What happens next
Rodriguez Gonzalez has not yet entered a plea. Her case will proceed through Miami-Dade criminal court, where the extortion charge carries the potential for felony penalties under Florida statute if prosecutors move forward on that basis.
