Little Rock police are investigating an overnight shooting near South University Avenue that left one man dead and another wounded. Officers responded to a Circle K near 6420 South University around 2:15 a.m. Friday, August 21, after a shots fired call, and found two adult men with gunshot wounds. One died from his injuries after being taken to a hospital; the second is expected to survive.
What Do Police Know So Far, and What Don’t They?
Very little has been confirmed publicly. Officers secured the scene and handed the case to Homicide Detectives, whose investigation is still in its early stages. The identities of both men have not been released, and no arrests have been announced.
A predawn shooting at a gas station convenience store is the kind of case that tends to generate a single day of local coverage and then fade from view unless an arrest follows quickly. Whether that happens here depends entirely on what Little Rock’s Homicide Unit turns up in the coming days, since almost nothing about motive, relationship between the two victims, or a suspect has been made public yet.
