San Antonio police are searching for three suspects who opened fire at the Woodhill Apartments near the 4900 block of Woodstone on the city’s Northwest Side early Tuesday, August 18, killing one 18 year old man and wounding a second. Both victims were 18 years old; one died at the hospital after being shot in the upper body, and the second is expected to recover.
Investigators say a black SUV, later confirmed stolen, pulled into the apartment complex parking lot, and three men got out and opened fire on one of the units before fleeing in the same vehicle, which was later found abandoned. Police recovered shell casings from both a handgun and a rifle at the scene.
What Do Police Actually Know About the Suspects So Far?
As of the department’s latest update on August 21, the three suspects had not been located, and the investigation is relying heavily on security footage and the recovered, since abandoned SUV to identify them. San Antonio Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department’s Homicide Unit directly.
Neighbors at Woodhill described the shooting as shattering an otherwise ordinary complex, telling local reporters it left them shaken about safety in a place they consider home. With three armed suspects still unidentified and at large days after the shooting, that unease is likely to persist until police make an arrest.
