Tuesday’s primaries reshaped several key 2026 midterm races. In Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley narrowly defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, an upset that political handicappers say strengthens Democrats’ position against the Trump-aligned Republican nominee in November.
Crowley, who briefly dropped out of the race before re-entering with outgoing Gov. Tony Evers’ endorsement, will now face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany. Analysts pointed to Crowley’s moderate profile as a better general-election matchup in a state where independent voters often decide close races.
Elsewhere, ratings shifted in Montana and Ohio primary contests as candidates from both parties emerged from crowded fields ahead of the fall campaign.
