Typhoon Dolphin hit Japan’s Okinawa region as authorities prepared for potentially disruptive conditions and urged residents in vulnerable areas to evacuate. The storm prompted widespread precautions, including the cancellation of about 500 flights, affecting travel to and from the region.
The typhoon’s approach also led to closures and restrictions in eastern China. Ports were shut ahead of the storm’s expected landfall, while schools and tourist activities were suspended in some areas as authorities worked to limit exposure to hazardous weather.
Businesses in Japan also adjusted operations. Toyota suspended 17 production lines at nine plants as the typhoon added to disruptions already linked to an earthquake. The measures reflected the storm’s effects on transportation, public services and industrial activity across affected areas.
Authorities in Japan and China continued to monitor the typhoon and issue weather alerts as it moved through the region. Residents and travelers were advised to follow official guidance, with conditions expected to affect transport and daily life in the storm’s path.
