President Trump criticized New York City’s new pied-a-terre tax on second homes, noting that he himself would likely be subject to the levy as an owner of property in the city, and renewed his call for the tax to be blocked.
The comments came as a group of New York City homeowners publicly complained about what they described as being overtaxed under the new program, with some saying they want a refund.
A judge has already temporarily paused the tax’s rollout after homeowners alleged the program was implemented improperly, leaving its future in the courts.
