A student killed at least seven people at a high school and at a home outside Bangkok, officials said, in a shooting that has drawn national attention in Thailand. The attack involved both the school and a nearby residence, according to reports.
Other coverage described the assailant as a teenage gunman who was later killed. Reports also said that teachers were among those killed and that more than 20 people were wounded, although initial accounts differed on the total number of victims.
The shooting was described as one of Thailand’s worst school attacks in years. In response, the prime minister said the government would seek stricter gun laws, as officials and the public confronted renewed concerns about firearms and school safety.
