Jaylen Brown has agreed to a five-year, $304 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, his agent, Jason Glushon, told ESPN on Tuesday. The deal is the richest in NBA history for a player who has not yet been named to an All-NBA First or Second Team.

Brown, 26, is coming off a season in which he averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He was named to the All-NBA Third Team and was a key contributor to the Celtics’ run to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The extension keeps Brown in Boston through the 2028-29 season. He will be paired with Jayson Tatum, who is eligible for a supermax extension next summer, as one of the NBA’s most productive duos.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my career with the Boston Celtics,” Brown said in a statement. “This is my home and I’m excited to be here for the long term.”

Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said that Brown is “one of the most talented and versatile players in the NBA.”
“We’re thrilled to have Jaylen signed for the next five years,” Stevens said. “He’s a big part of our future and we’re excited to see what he can accomplish.”
Brown’s extension is a significant commitment by the Celtics, but it is a reflection of his importance to the team. He is a two-time All-Star and a rising star in the NBA. He is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend at a high level.’

The Celtics are hoping that Brown’s extension will help them build a championship contender. They have a core of players that includes Brown, Tatum, Kristop Porzingis, and Robert Williams III. They also have a strong young coach.
With Brown locked up for the long term, the Celtics are in a good position to compete for championships in the years to come.
