A high school football player in Maumelle, Arkansas, discovered a venomous cottonmouth snake inside his helmet during practice, in an incident players and coaches described as startling but which ended without injury.
According to reports, the snake had been inside the helmet for roughly an hour of practice before it was discovered, prompting disbelief among teammates and staff.
“It was very unreal,” the player said afterward, describing the moment the snake was found. School officials said practice safety protocols were reviewed following the incident.
