Iran says Hormuz deal with Oman won’t fully reopen strait

Iran said a deal with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz is close but would not fully reopen the strait, as talks continue over the terms needed to restore normal shipping through the critical waterway.

Iranian officials said the U.S. must meet certain commitments before the strait can reopen fully, while also signaling moves to block U.S. and Israeli shipments through the passage in the meantime.

President Trump said the broader conflict with Iran “can’t go much longer,” as officials on both sides described a Hormuz agreement as within reach even as sticking points remain.
