Hoover, AL (July 16, 2023) – Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, the 25-year-old Alabama woman who was reported missing after she pulled over on an interstate to check on a child, has been found safe.
Russell was last seen on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at approximately 9:30 PM, when she called 911 to report a toddler walking on the side of Interstate 459 South near mile marker 11. After calling 911, Russell stopped to check on the child and called her sister-in-law around 9:36 PM to report the same details. The family member that Russell called told police that they could hear the woman scream before losing contact with her.
A search was launched for Russell, and her family and friends held a vigil on Friday night to pray for her safe return. On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Russell was found safe at her home in Hoover, AL. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, but her condition is not known at this time.
The circumstances surrounding Russell’s disappearance are still under investigation, but police say they do not believe foul play was involved.
