Perry Young is accused of trafficking DMT and MDMA through a website called Forest Floor DC, and search warrants tied to the case turned up a loaded handgun, 74 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, and $250,000 in cash at his home and a storage unit.
How did an online drug delivery operation actually work?
Prosecutors say Perry Young operated forestfloordc.com, a website where customers could order Schedule I controlled substances including marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and DMT. Once an order came in online, Young or an associate delivered the drugs in person — a model that functions less like a street-corner operation and more like a delivery app built specifically around illegal narcotics. The federal indictment charges him with conspiracy to distribute DMT, distribution of DMT and MDMA within 1,000 feet of a private college, and distribution and possession with intent to distribute MDMA — that proximity charge exists specifically because of how close the operation ran to Catholic University’s campus.
What did investigators actually find?
Search warrants executed at Young’s residence and a separate storage unit turned up a Glock 43 handgun fitted with a drum-style magazine, additional ammunition and gun accessories, 18 pounds of marijuana, 74 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, $200,000 in jewelry, $250,000 in cash, and drug packaging materials. The scale of those seizures, particularly the cash and mushroom quantity, points to an operation prosecutors are treating as more than a small-time delivery business.
