Resham Dhaba, a well-known highway stop in Murthal, Haryana, has gone viral after adding a robot waiter to its dining room, complete with glowing red LED eyes and a pre-programmed route between tables. Video of the robot delivering samosas and parathas has spread widely on social media, with people driving out specifically to see it in action.
The robot, built by a team based in Bengaluru, runs for about two hours per battery charge and navigates the dining floor on its own using onboard navigation software. It’s not quite ready for full duty yet: it can’t carry liquids, so drinks and chai are still delivered the old-fashioned way, by hand.
Not Even the Dhaba’s First Gimmick
Murthal is home to more than 50 competing dhabas along the highway, all fighting for the same passing traffic, which is exactly why Resham Dhaba keeps investing in novelty. The robot isn’t even its first delivery gimmick, the dhaba already runs a toy train that carries food to tables, and the robot is simply the newest addition to that running bit.
Whether it’s a real efficiency upgrade or just a very effective way to get people filming their meal for social media, it’s working. In a market with dozens of nearly identical roadside stops, a robot with LED eyes is enough to make one of them stand out.
What do you think? Would a robot waiter get you in the door, or is it just a gimmick? Let us know your thoughts in the comments on BeezLoop.com!
